Relaunch

Anne's Crafting Adventures is relaunching as Cook, Create, Decorate.... a caring life.

Two years ago the lovely Rainmac and ladies of MSE's Card-making Forum introduced me to the wonderful world of paper-craft and card-making. Since my last post in March 2010, I have been busy on other projects, not least of which has been adapting to my new role of carer and also painting our house from top to bottom. With the paint pots and brushes safely locked away for the immediate future, it is time to find the recipe books, blow the cobwebs off the stash and let the creative juices flow.

I foresee an eclectic mix of posts and a fun journey ahead. I hope you will join me.

Oh Wow!!! I so love this image!!

Isn't it funny how some cards become your absolute favourites. I so love this image that I don't think I'm going to be able to give this card to anyone else.
I would like to enter it into these two challenges:

Flutterby Wednesday – Challenge 99 Butterflies and Fairies
Ooh La La – Challenge 49 Anything goes

Onto the card:
Paper: Basic Grey Sugar Rush
Image: Ching Chou Kuik's Red Hearts, Sweet Pea Stamps coloured with Promarkers
Flower: WHSmith and Wild Orchid Crafts
Gems and red jute ribbon from my stash

I hope you enjoy my card. Thanks for looking, love

I'm on a learning curve!!!

I'd like to enter this card in the following two challenges:
Passion for Promarkers: Girls, Girls, Girls using any coloured Promarker
Cute Card Thursday: Fairy Fantastic

Couldn't you just cry.... last night, as I was adding the final touch to this card, stickles to the dreamcatcher, the image bled. Ah well, as they say, you live and learn – I'll know in future not to mix stickles with digi-images. I wasn't going to blog this card but I had put so much time into this card that I thought it was worth the effort to re-colour the digi this morning.
So a little later than planned, on to the card:
The digi-image is Dreamcatcher from Sugar Nellie coloured with pastel blue, blue pearl, pastel yellow, canary, cinnamon, terracotta, satin and dusky pink. The papers and ribbon were a gift from the lovely Rainmac. The cardstock is Core'dinations and pearls are from Papermania. I used a Martha Stewart Doily Lace border edge punch on the cardstock and distressed the edges of the papers. Finally, the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the blue pearl brad and charm are from The Hobby House.
In spite of my stickles disaster, I really love this card and am so glad I recoloured the image.
I hope you enjoy it. Love,
Annexxx

Totally Gorjuss Challenge - All in one!

Here is my entry for this week's Totally Gorjuss challenge which has a monotone theme - phew, talk about cutting it fine!!!

The colours on the card are a lot more jade green in real life iykwim.

The papers are Bloom & Grow from My Minds Eye and the Prima flowers, co-ordinating cardstock and organza ribbon are from my stash. The card candy and sentiment were a gift from the lovely Sarah (Rainmac) - I blame her for getting me hooked started on card-making :)

My gorjuss girl has been colored with promarkers. I've treated myself to some Twinkling H2Os but I'm a bit nervous about using them - well tbh, I've no idea where to start!!!

Thanks for stopping by.

Love,
Annexxx

Sugar Nellie Challenge 27

Here is my entry for this week's Sugar Nellie Challenge.

The challenge was to follow a sketch by Kathy plus to include distressing. This was my second attempt at distressing and I certainly found it to be quite a challenge with my first attempt ending up in the bin!!!

The papers are by Dovecraft and I have rotated the sketch. I distressed the paper edges using my nail scissors and ran the edges through my black stazon ink - simple but effective lol. I have added a distressing tool and some Tim Holtz distressing inks to my neverending "to buy" list...

The Sugar Nellie stamp is Foxy and I have coloured her with Promarkers. I have attempted to add some shading to her face and to her hair, which I am quite pleased with. The coat is two tones of red bur it doesn't show up too well on the photo. I have added stickles to her hat, collar and coat edge to give her a little bling in this cold weather.

The card is finished off with some flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and some gems from my stash. I am really pleased with the final outcome and I hope you enjoy it too.

Love, Annexxx
